Isla Verde's Holiday Season Has Eleven Dates and One Kitchen That Doesn't Wait for Any of Them

October 15, 2026

From tonight through December 31, the Isla Verde strip has eleven dated holiday events across two venues. Fairmont El San Juan Hotel lists seven and Vivo Beach Club lists four. That's about one dated event a week over a stretch of 83 days. Then on October 5, Marriott Isla Verde Beach Resort introduced Meso, a Mediterranean dining concept with Puerto Rican influences that serves dinner daily from 6 to 11 p.m. So for the first time this season, the nights between the big dates have an oceanfront table of their own. Below, the dated calendar comes first, then the kitchen that fills in around it.

The Eleven Dates, in Order

Thu, Dec 31 New Year's Eve 2026 Celebration Chico Cabaret and The Lobby All day
Thu, Dec 31 Year-end dinner buffet Caña by José Enrique 6 p.m.

October is busy at Vivo and December is busy at the Fairmont. The two venues barely overlap. Vivo's dates end in mid-November, and the Fairmont's holiday events start right before Thanksgiving week. The table splits into two halves for that reason, and each half books differently.

Vivo's Half Runs Through Ticketera

Vivo Beach Club sits at Road 187, Km. 2.4, beside the Balneario de Isla Verde. Discover Puerto Rico describes it as a beach club that sells day passes and membership packages and has restaurants and Ocean Lab Brewery on site. The venue's own site adds pool and beach access, bars, casual food, live entertainment and private-event spaces. Neither source posts regular operating hours or says whether entry is free on nights without an event, so call ahead before stopping in on an off night.

The October shows lean in two different musical directions. Tonight's Indie Lab bill brings Los Walters, Pink Pablo, Del Toro and Lockward, starting at 8 p.m. Next Saturday, El Bailao puts Wilfrido Vargas and El Gran Combo on the same stage, starting an hour earlier at 7 p.m. MAU P follows on November 7, with doors at 8 p.m. Ticketera's Vivo venue page shows no other October to December dates beyond these and the bazaar. More may be added, but right now Vivo's season ends on November 15.

That last date is the one for daylight. The Christmas Bazaar is an early holiday market with local vendors, held Sunday, November 15, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 7000 Carr. 187. It's the only event on the strip's calendar that happens in daylight and runs as a market. Registration also goes through Ticketera, so even the shopping afternoon starts with a booking.

The Fairmont's Half Starts With an Underwater Ballroom

Fairmont El San Juan's event calendar moves from nightlife into family dinners as the year closes. The Sunken Ball falls on Saturday, October 31, at 7 p.m. in The Lobby. The hotel describes it as an evening in an "unforgettable underwater world," with reservations through Ticketera.

Next comes the Tree Lighting Ceremony on Wednesday, November 25, at 7 p.m., also in The Lobby. The hotel calls it one of its most cherished traditions and the event that marks the start of the festive season. The next evening, Thanksgiving, the hotel's season moves into Caña by José Enrique. Caña hosts a dinner buffet on November 26 at 5 p.m., a Nochebuena buffet on December 24 at 5 p.m., and a table-served Christmas dinner on December 25 at 5 p.m. The hotel says the Christmas menu combines Puerto Rican culinary traditions with seasonal flavors. On New Year's Eve, Caña's year-end buffet starts at 6 p.m. while Chico Cabaret and The Lobby host the hotel's all-day celebration.

There's one recurring item that doesn't need a holiday. The same calendar lists De La Habana a San Juan Fridays as a weekly evening in The Lobby at 7 p.m., with reservations through OpenTable. Hotel calendars can shift, so check each listing close to the date.

The Kitchen That Fills the Weeks Between

Taken together, the two venues account for eleven dates, and each one is tied to a single day on a calendar. The newest addition to the strip works a different way. It serves dinner daily, according to the hotel, and no date on the calendar is attached to it.

Meso belongs to the property that ran as Courtyard by Marriott Isla Verde Beach Resort for more than 23 years. News is my Business reported on August 19 that an approximately $38 million conversion had turned it into the 260-room Marriott Isla Verde Beach Resort. El Nuevo Día dated the new brand to Tuesday, August 18, 2026. It reported that the work was phased over almost three years while the hotel stayed open, which is why the change may have gone unnoticed from the sidewalk.

The restaurant was the last piece to be revealed. News is my Business's October 5 report lays out the details:

  • Executive chef David Serrano and sous chef Ángel Santiago run a menu that pairs Mediterranean ingredients and techniques with elements of Puerto Rican cuisine, with an emphasis on fresh ingredients and open-flame cooking.
  • The wine collection holds more than 1,600 bottles across 220 labels, and the cocktails use Mediterranean botanicals with Caribbean spirits.
  • The room seats up to 50 indoors and about 60 on an oceanfront terrace, with an open kitchen where diners can watch the cooking.
  • Dinner runs daily from 6 to 11 p.m., and the restaurant employs 34 people.

Santiago described who the room is for in that same report:

"Meso represents a new era for Isla Verde's gastronomy: a globally inspired concept deeply rooted in Puerto Rico, created both for the curious traveler and the local resident looking for a special dining experience by the sea."

That's an intention, not a published access policy. None of the coverage spells out whether each of the hotel's outlets takes walk-in diners who aren't staying there, so call before you go. The rest of the resort's lineup, per Marriott's hotel page, includes Café Colao for Puerto Rican coffee and pastries, Papaya Oceanfront Grill for beachfront seafood and cocktails, and Destilado, a lobby cocktail bar with small plates. The hotel's dining page also lists a Veranda by Meso and splits Meso into breakfast and dinner service. Outlet names may still be settling after the rebrand.

Three Ways to Use the Season

Because the dated events come about once a week, the most flexible plans hang an ordinary evening between two of them. Here are three, built only from what's on the calendars.

  1. A late October weekend: Book El Bailao at Vivo for Saturday, October 17, at 7 p.m. Two weeks later, the Sunken Ball runs at the Fairmont on Saturday, October 31, at 7 p.m. A weeknight dinner at Meso fits between the two whenever you like, since it requires no ticket.
  2. The mid-November Sunday: Spend the afternoon at the Christmas Bazaar at Vivo on November 15, which wraps up at 6 p.m. Meso opens for dinner at 6 p.m. the same evening.
  3. Thanksgiving week: Watch the Tree Lighting in The Lobby on Wednesday, November 25, at 7 p.m. Then choose the next day between Caña's 5 p.m. buffet and a call to check Meso's holiday hours.

In December, the dated events all fall on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year's Eve, all at the Fairmont. That leaves the first three weeks of the month with only the weekly Friday evening in The Lobby, plus a kitchen on the beach that serves every night from 6 to 11 p.m.
